It goes without saying that temperatures at the moment are through the roof. So we do have to ask you to consider this when planning any pre-season training.

SSFC committee recommends that teams contemplating pre-season training/fitness today and this weekend be very mindful of the hot weather predicted and postpone to another time.

Stay out of the sun, wear a hat and sunscreen and keep hydrated at all times.

Thanks all.

PLAYER ALLOCATIONS & GRADING 2017

SSFC would like to bring to your attention the player allocation and grading process:

Grading is carried out by a grading committee comprising of experienced representative coaches (who have played at Premier League level) and senior SSFC committee members who collectively have many years of coaching experience.

  • For unbiasedness, no parent coaches will be involved in this process.
  • At the conclusion of the grading session, the grading committee will run through a thorough scoring (grading) system before a player is allocated into a grade. We expect to finalise initial teams and gradings approx 1 week after this session and you will be contacted after this point by your team coach.
  • Please note that further re-grading of players may occur during trial games held in March, where the grading committee will observe players in real game scenarios.
  • The grading committee will take into account real game situations that the players will be put through, as well as any nervousness that the player may have had during the grading process.
  • It is the grading committee’s ambition to ensure players are graded according to their overall football capability, so that they can have a positive football experience during the year, and grow as a player and a person overall.
  • It is also our intention to ensure non-comp players and teams are put in correct association levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced) for their overall development and enjoyment. This will be discussed at the team allocation nights.
  • Good Luck to all and may you enjoy your football in 2015.

Team allocations & grading days will be held at Claydon Reserve, The Promenade, Sans Souci

Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your time slot. Players need to be ready with their full playing gear including shin pads.

PLEASE NOTE: Parental involvement as coach/manager co-ordination of teams (especially non-competition Under 6 to under 11’s) is mandatory for teams to be formed. This will require 2 parents to become Registered Team Officials (RTOs) to form a team.

70’s 80’s 90’s Voyage - 22nd October 2016

A very valued member of the SSFC family, Con Andrews, is helping the St George Sailing Club promote an event called the 70’s 80’s 90’s Voyage, on October the 22nd at the Club itself. You may remember this venue as the old Zeus II venue from the mid 80’s.

It’s essentially a trip down memory lane with music from that period and rare video footage from Dolls Point during the 80’s where thousands of people would hang out on Sundays, cruising up and down the strip with police presence, playing loud music and showing off their cars. Fun, carefree times!

Steve Kay, Darcy and I will be playing all the best, funk, soul and groove music of that period on that night, and I wanted to let you personally know as it may be of interest to you. If you would like to come or if you’re thinking of organizing a group of friends to attend, you can buy tickets from the club in advance at a discounted price of $20, or you can just rock up at the door on the night and pay $25.00. The response so far has been unbelievable, so if you’re thinking of coming, don’t delay as there are limited tickets.

You can also book a table for the night by contacting the club on 95294911, and dinner is available at the restaurant up until 9.30pm, after which limited mezedes will be available.

If you’re not already familiar with this event, you can find out more by visiting the facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1637757849803015/

Hope to see you there with your best dancing shoes!!!!! 🎧💃🎧💃🎧💃🎧💃🎧💃🎧💃🎧💃
